UCI LISP has a rather nice function editor even though it contains
surplus features. There are two possible improvements: 1. it should
be possible to assign parts of an expression to variables within the
editor and to insert values of variables as parts of the expression
being edited. 2. The expression type editor is usually quite good
but sometimes a string editor is better. Would it be possible to
make a kludge that would allow the use of E to edit any subexpression?

I begin to see what is required for a real measurement of system performance.
At any given time, one resource is limiting, i.e. core cycles, amount of core,
swap capacity, disk transfer capacity, user demand for computing perhaps weighted
by importance. What is limiting fluctuates violently. If one monitored
unsatisfied need for resources, one would get the percentage of the time
that each resources is limiting. The measurement probably wouldn't be
very interesting for our system since it would almost always be either
core cycles or user demand. I am not suggesting that you do anything about
this; it is just an idea.
